Last call for Building Nominations

Nominations for the 2007/2008 Building Cleanability Awards close on 31st December 2007 and, if you haven’t already done so, make sure you enter one or more buildings across the ten separate Awards entry categories.

Promoted, on behalf of the cleaning industry, by the industry’s Livery Company – The Worshipful Company of Environmental Cleaners, the Building Cleanability Awards are designed to focus attention on the important relationship between building design and cleaning effectiveness – its ‘cleanability’.

The biennial Awards scheme has been running since 1995 with nearly three hundred buildings so far assessed all over the UK.

A team of Awards Assessors are primed ready to carry out detailed building assessments early in the New Year. Over eighty different assessment criteria are used to ascertain what challenges cleaning staff are faced with each day – from access to all areas to cleaning materials and equipment storage provision and construction materials used in various areas of each building.

Each building assessed receives a building cleanability grading and five star winners are shortlisted for the overall Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards. There are Special Awards for new build and refurbishment projects together with an Award for the most environmentally aware building.

Anyone can nominate any number of buildings – architects, surveyors, owners, contractors and management companies.

A prestigious Awards Presentation Luncheon is being held in The Great Hall of London’s famous Guildhall on Monday 30th June 2008.

The 2007/2008 Awards scheme is funded by The British Cleaning Council, as Awards Patron, with sponsorship provided by The British Institute of Cleaning Science, Karcher UK, LCC Support Services, ISS UK and Mayflower Washroom Solutions.

The Awards are also supported by a number of professional body partners, including The British Institute of Facilities Management, The Chartered Institute of Building, The Cleaning and Support Services Association, The Health and Safety Executive, The Royal Institute of British Architects, The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and The Chartered Institution of Wastes Management.

There are no entry fees and buildings can be nominated online on this website.
